Why I'm Running
I'm running for Orange County Legislature District 9 because I believe it's time for change—and I'm ready to be part of that change. I've spent my life serving this community as an educator, a child care advocate, and a mother. Now, I'm ready to serve in a greater capacity, helping to shape policies that make life better for families like mine and yours.
What pushed me to take this step was a conversation I had with a young couple right here in our district. They were both working full-time jobs, trying to raise their children and build a life—but they couldn't find an affordable place to live. Rent was too high, home prices were out of reach, and every option pushed them further from their jobs, family, and community.
We need leadership that understands these challenges firsthand and is committed to finding real solutions. I love this community, and I'm ready to serve it in a bigger way—to bring change that matters and leadership that listens.

🎓 Quality Education
Every child deserves access to a strong public education. I will advocate for increased funding, innovative programs, and the resources our schools need to prepare the next generation for success.
🏡 Workforce Housing
I support the development of afforable housing options that meet the needs of residents at all income levels. Everyone deserves a safe, stable place to call home.
🚌 Transportation Access
I will advocate for transportation options that connect people to jobs, healthcare, education, and fresh food.

I’m Shauna Best — a lifelong Orange County resident, educator, and dedicated community advocate. I’ve worked with families and youth across our district, and I’m passionate about delivering results that matter.
As a mother, teacher, and organizer, I understand the daily challenges our neighbors face. I’m running for Orange County Legislature District 9 to ensure our local government is accountable, accessible, and focused on real solutions.
